The UrbanPromise Mission – “to equip Camden’s children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership.”

Over the last 30 years, UrbanPromise has been transforming the landscape of Camden one youth at a time. They do this through a variety of different programs for underprivileged children, in addition to after-school and summer camps, school education, job training and hands-on learning. Everything they do is to challenge youth to develop and realize their potential!

Numerous organizations have joined forces with UrbanPromise , including Bruce Paparone New Homes and Paparone Insurance, to support the mission at UrbanPromise through volunteering, financial contributions and fundraising efforts. One of the events to raise money is the “Pedal for Promise” bike ride that “Team Paparone” participates in annually each Spring. This past year, the team at Paparone New Homes & Paparone Insurance raised over $7,700 for UrbanPromise.

Paparone’s involvement with UrbanPromise goes back many years. Bruce Paparone, owner of Paparone Insurance and Paparone New Homes, has followed his father’s legacy of volunteering for the program. Samuel J. Paparone was a strong supporter of the school, and in 2006 Paparone New Homes built the 15,000 square foot Samuel J. Paparone Student Center for UrbanPromise in the late Samuel’s memory. The building was funded by donations from Paparone’s friends, family and business associates who contributed their time, materials and money so that this building can be used by future generations of students. The Samuel J. Paparone Student Center hosts classrooms, a computer lab, faculty/administration offices, a meeting room, a lunch room and warm up kitchen.

UrbanPromise was recently featured on ABC’s Nightline with Diane Sawyer. The episode was a follow-up story to an interview from over 10 years ago, featuring several children from UrbanPromise. One of the original children who were interviewed, Josh Williams, now works for Bruce Paparone New Homes, Inc. These individuals featured on Nightline are just a few of the many success stories of UrbanPromise.  Watch the interview here –>  UrbanPromise Interview with Diane Sawyer on Nightline

Bruce Paparone Homes received 2017 Commitment to Excellence Award for Builder of Under 50 Homes

The Builders League of South Jersey honored Bruce Paparone Homes with the “2017 Commitment to Excellence Award for a Builder of under 50 Homes a Year”, on November 15, 2017 at Lucien’s Manor in Berlin, NJ. This is the tenth time that the company has won the coveted Commitment to Excellence Award. The award was accepted by Bruce Paparone and his sons Matthew Paparone and Samuel Paparone.

The Commitment to Excellence Award was established in 1996 to recognize the League’s builder members who demonstrate outstanding customer service and quality as perceived by South Jersey’s newest homebuyers. The annual award is based on a survey sent throughout the year to new homebuyers. These surveys provide valuable feedback to builder members who are interested in monitoring and upgrading their customer service. The criteria for selection is based on overall professionalism in the new home purchase, quality of workmanship, customer relations, service after the sale and total customer satisfaction.

At the same event, Bruce Paparone was presented with the Builders League’s “Jirair S. Hovnanian Humanitarian Award” by Stephen and Peter Hovnanian. The Builders League established this award in the name of Jirair S. Hovnanian to honor builder, remodeler and associate members for their exceptional philanthropic endeavors.

Paparone New Homes and Paparone Insurance joined together to raise over $10,000 for the annual Pedals for Promise event that supports Urban Promise of Camden NJ.  Almost 20 riders volunteered to represent both companies and they rode… 0 miles!  Rain out!!  But the funds will still go to Urban Promise.  Many thanks to all who contributed!

Kudos to Regina Gazzara, who leads the Paparone Insurance company, for organizing this annual event for the Paparone teams. Regina’s enthusiasm and commitment to this cause has led to four years of participation and fundraising.  Regina leads our group of professional insurance brokers who work to protect their client’s assets.  Whether a homeowner, business owner or car owner, Regina’s team  figures out what type of insurance coverage you need and how much insurance you need.  Because Paparone Insurance is an independent insurance broker, the team can provide competitive quotes and coverage, saving you from searching through the internet for hours, or worse – inadequate, overpriced coverage.  Contact Regina or her team members at 856-435-5050 or read more at sjpaparoneinsurance.com.

Bruce Paparone led the Paparone New Homes Team, recruiting many employees, friends, coworkers, and family members to ride with him.  Bruce has been building new homes throughout southern New Jersey for decades, following in the footsteps of his father, Samuel Paparone.  He’s current selling homes in East Greenwich Township, Clarksboro,  Mantua, Voorhees, Moorestown, and Lumberton, NJ.  For more information and to keep abreast of new communities opening in other towns, please check our website paparonenewhomes.com often.

Cocktail Party Fundraiser for UrbanPromise

Over the last 5 years UrbanPromise, a school providing many educational programs for underprivileged youth, has had a graduation rate of 100% with 90% of seniors going on to college. That is an impressive number considering the school’s Camden location. The graduation rate of Camden’s public high schools remains around 50% with only 7% of the city’s population having earned a bachelor’s degree. UrbanPromise aims to “equip Camden children and young adults with the skills necessary for academic achievement, life management, spiritual growth, and Christian leadership.”

Through many fundraising efforts, UrbanPromise is able to provide programs for Camden youth ranging from every day school, summer camps, before and after school programs, expeditions, and many other opportunities that promote individual growth through education. One of these fundraising efforts, Pedal for Promise, is a charity bike ride that Paparone Insurance participates in annually. This year, Team Paparone had a goal of raising $7,500. With that challenge, Paparone Insurance hosted a cocktail party on Thursday, April 28th to try to reach our goal. So far, Team Paparone has met our goal and more by raising over $7,975 and having 18 volunteer bikers signed up for the ride.

This is not Paparone’s first venture into the world of UrbanPromise. Paparone Insurance owner, Bruce Paparone, has followed his father’s legacy of volunteering for the program. Samuel J. Paparone was a strong supporter of the school and in 2006 Paparone Homes built the 15,000 square foot Samuel J. Paparone Student Center for UrbanPromise in the late Samuel’s memory to be used by future generations of students to come. The student center hosts classrooms, a computer lab, faculty/administration offices, a meeting room, a lunch room and warm up kitchen.
Pedal for Promise will take place this Saturday, May 14th, with the ride beginning at 8:30 AM. The ride this year is taking place at Kenneth R. Olson Middle School in Tabernacle, NJ. For more information, or to ride or donate to the event, please visit: www.urbanpromiseusa.org/pedal.
